I just bought a 2006 Mac Pro, a 2009 Mac Pro, and a drive sled to replace a missing one on the 2006.

In each case at least some of the sleds had disgusting black smudges and fingerprints on them. So I figure this is a normal problem but all the info I see online about cleaning Mac Pros is limited to removing dust!

What can I used to clean the actual metal of the case? Mild soap and water? I'd think dish soap would be fine but every time I hear suggestions to use it for anything I get a flashback to an ex-coworker who ruined her car...

I have same problem too my 09 sled has smudges from sticker. Thant i can't found the way to removes it.

If you are talking about cleaning a bare sled, simple green works fine. If you need to clean the chassis, you need to use something like brake cleaner, but I would just leave it be if it's not harming anybody and you are just having a severe case of OCD.
