Ok, I searched a bit, and didnt find the answer i am looking for.

I have a 1.33 17" PB as my portable. For the first few months I owned it, it was my primary machine and used it for all my design work (photoshop, illustrator, FCS....). Anyway, I have since upgraded my home machine to a quad G5 and now basically only use my PB for travelling and to store all my music files and photos.

I am down to 1 gig on my HD (80gig) and want to clean out the machine.

I want to use the PB JUST for my music and images. I will no longer be running photoshop/illustrator or FCS ( as i am spoiled from my quad, and hate the speed of the PB for rendering).

I have several FW drives, and have already backed up my itunes library and iphoto library.

I want to now get the PB back to original state and will then move the itunes and iphoto libraries back on ( as they are all i want to keep on the PB).

now, what is the best way to restore this machine? Over the years, i have moved tons of files into different areas of the HD, and FCP and motion have made their own render folders in different places. I just want to get rid of all that junk so the machine is music/photo only.

Is there a way with disk utility that will in essence "reset" all the OS to its original install state? or do i need to do a clean install off the disc. I have the tiger family pack with 2 liscenses left. I just dont want to do a long install if there is an easier way to clean it all up.

sorry for the long posts. thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.

thats the thing...

ive tried to clear out anything i dont need, yet there is still around 25 gigs or so of used HD that i cant account for. Its just different render files, temp save files and the like, that are scattered all over the place, and i just cant seem to be able to find these files.

I guess i am just gonna do a clean install and drag my music and photos back on afterwards.
