Hi, I am a complete novice and was wondering what is the best way to sort of do a complete clean up of all the files, apps, etc. I am not using. After that my plan is to do a complete backup and restore my MBAs industry settings. Whats the best way to do it? Thanks.

Should be able to execute a RESTORE TO FACTORY procedure. Pick your OS of choice, assuming you have loaded this OS version over this laptop in the past, should be able to download anew, and re-install from scratch. Needless to say backup data before.
