Cleaning the Camera Body

My 5D MK III definitely needs a good wash but I would like to know what kind fo solution is safe to use on the body. Maybe a lens body also. Anyone got any tips?

I tend to use the micro fibre cloths on a regular basis for a dry wipe. Then if the body is a bit grungy I use either a baby wipe or a slightly damp cloth no solvents.

I have never had to do serious cleaning of a body or lens so sorry, maybe this is too lightweight for your needs.

Mine never gets too gruby as I'm a fair weather photographer. I just use old lens cloths.

They may not have needed it but I used some vinegar and water with some cotton balls and Q-tips to clean these bad boys. It didn't seem to have any detrimental effect on the plastics or rubber.

I use the same solution that I use on my LCD screen. Well thats if its extremely dirty. I would first blow off any gunk with the rocket blower and then spray a little iKleer cleaner. Or just use a lightly damp micro fiber towel.

Micro fiber cloth with a little water on it works. But also I save old tooth brushes for detail cleaning jobs like this. In some cases I had to use 70% denatured alcohol on the micro fiber in place of water. Squeeze he cloth out until almost dry.

Cleaning optical glass is really hard to do right. A "blower brush" is good but some times you do need more then yeah them with cleaner made for eyeglasses but it is easy to do more hard than good to glass.

If needed send it out to the camera repair place for what they call a CLA. This used to be done regularly when camera where all mechanical with no battery required.

Never had a problem with a little windex / glass cleaner sprayed onto a microfiber cloth and used to wipe down everything except the actual glass of the lens and the sensor.
