Cleaning your strap

Right I brought a leather loop strap from cex, used but looks brand new. It stinks though and I've tried washing it but it's not budging, can anyone recommend a way to wash it so it doesn't smell of smoke anymore before I end up returning it.

Not sure id recommend the final tip though. Putting it in the oven seems risky.

Try the Apple Store. Maybe the Genius will do a warranty replacement.

Brought it from cex, I doubt I'll get any luck.

Have people had free replacement straps for any reason?

Some good quality leather conditioner, applied lightly, might help.

Neatsfoot oil is very good for cleaning and conditioning leather.
You do not need to put a lot on though, then just rub it in with your fingers.
