I don't think Apple would sue - but then again, they have gone after other non-tech companies playing off their marketing/image/etc...

They are bound by law to defend their IP so it just depends on if anything there is interpreted as infringing. If you don't aggressively protect your IP, you can lose it.

What IP is in the ad? I didn't recognize anything other than the lower case i.

I just don't see it then. Nothing there makes me thing of an Apple ad.

The rounded square around the ML. The font. The Siriously (you don't spell it that way). And so on...

It's a joke. That's the point.

It's satire. Humour. Tongue-in-cheek. A jest. Witticism. A gentle quip. A pleasant chortle. Banter. Unoffensive pleasantry. A funny punny. Not maliciously infringing on intellectual property.

I never said otherwise. I find the ad funny/amusing/clever. But a previous poster asked WHY Apple might object - or more specifically - what was inspired by Apple's advertising...

Sorry Sam, shouldn't have been short-tempered with you. Just some really frustrating posts here, and as you were the most recent post, it looks like you got the brunt of it :p The ones who think Apple will sue over this, and the ones who stubbornly refuse to see any likeness with an Apple ad. Gaargh, it drives me up the wall.

The truth is in the middle, of course -- it's just a bit of bleedin' satire on an Apple-type ad guys, take it for what it is. I'm surprised people have to explain this out loud. Crimminey :D

I think its funny and I believe apple astutely understands they'd be laughed right out of the courthouse. They have bigger fish to fry when it comes to dealing with current court cases. I don't think they really will do anything

Yea, it’s a direct take on their advertising which I am willing to guess that Apple doesn’t like. That being said, they aren’t going to do anything about it for several reasons.

1) Companies have done this before and Apple hasn’t taken people to court.
2) The company has an excellent defense that Apple can’t counter - parody. Apple knows this.
3) Apple isn’t about to give free advertising to anybody unless there is something in it for them. There is nothing here other than bad publicity.
4) Apple’s ad’s aren’t trademarked. They are copywriten. That only covers the direct ad, not derivatives involving another company. People are free to use elements that work in their own ads.
