In the past I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock and the default finder directory opens.

Now nothing happens when I click on the Finder Icon. I must do a left click and select "New window".

I cannot find a setting to open a finder window when I click on finder.

Did you relaunch Finder? Did you restart your Mac?

If anyone knows how to fix this, I am having the same issue.

I have relaunched Finder and restarted the machine but to no avail. I am running the new beta software for what it's worth. I am aware this may be a bug, however it literally just stopped working whilst using the machine.

You might try deleting your Finder preference list and restarting.

Deleting the plist and rebooting fixed it for me. I was also having the same thing with Activity Monitor. Deleting the plist fixed that as well.
