Today, I opened up my PowerBook and the hard drive was making some nasty clicking noises. I rebooted, and now, it's fine. When I get home, I'll run techtool on it and see if it finds anything, but should I be worried? I'd hate to drive 100 miles to the Apple Store for something that may not be a big deal.

Thanks.

The hard drive is quiet now, and knowing my luck, it would still be quiet when I went to the Apple Store. Is there a way to make it click or something so I don't drive 100 miles each way for nothing?

Also, my keyboard, logic board, and inverter board have already been replaced by Apple. What are my chances of getting them to replace my laptop completely? The damn thing's a lemon and now it seems like the only part that hasn't broken yet is the optical drive and the Airport card.

It passed TechTool tests with flying colors and is as quiet as can be. Are there any other tests I should do? Or should I just wait, making sure that nothing important is stored on there, before I take it to Apple?

I had a hard drive that did just that it made a clicking noise them just stop..
It was fine again for a week or so and then it just pack up...
so back every thing up quick... if your drive is ok it will not hurt to back it up anyway just i case...

better to be safe than sorry

Nah, no need to back up. All my documents and junk are on my PowerMac and I just sync them over to my PowerBook every now and then. If my PowerBook's hard drive craps out, the only things I'll lose that are of importance is a movie I got from questionable sources and a pretty wallpaper I got off Deviant Art :D

Frankly, I'm kinda hoping the hard drive dies. I do have a good feeling I'd get a replacement laptop this time around ;) But of course, I won't try to cheat Apple and make the hard drive go quicker or anything, but if it finally dies, I most likely won't be too terribly upset

Anyways, I'm running Apple Hardware Test right now. Doubt it will tell me much, but I've got time to kill.
