Before I go in to swap my AirPods pro, wondering if anyone has issues with clicking noise during phone calls. I don’t notice it when listening to music but only during some calls. Some calls are clear with no noise, but some calls have constant annoying background clicking, like a distorted iMessage clicking noise.

support says they will swap it, but if this is a known issue with current hardware, I might as well wait til it is resolved. However if not many people have this issue, might as well swap as I may have hardware issue. Also have the famous red exclamation error with battery tool

I got a replacement pair from Apple support, the clicking noise is still prominent during phone calls. Happens using ANC and Transparency modes. When I turn it all off, I can still the click but less noticeable. I also replaced my iPhone 11 pro for a new one incase it was due to my phone. Still the same issue. Working with support to get it replaced again...

Not sure it’s related but I have crazy static in my car using Bluetooth too every since 13.2. I did try 13.3 beta 1 for short period of time before swapping my phone, and it did get rid of the static during phone calls in my car, however clicking noise was still present during AirPods pro calls :(

time to install 13.3 beta

Ok another update, I believe it’s related to calling into voip lines. For example, calling into conference bridges, happens every time. Calling into Apple support, same issue. However when I call directly to landline or another mobile device it’s crystal clear.

also I don’t believe it’s isolated to the APP’s, found few thread where the same issues were happening with AirPods when dialing into conference bridges.

for some reason, during conference bridge calls or calling to a voip line (such as Apple support or other support lines), it’s causing the AirPods to make this annoying distorted clicking sound.I can confirm my previous Powerbeats pro did not make this sound.

also my guess is that this is not a widespread issue since not everyone uses conference bridges for their daily calls. I’m constantly dialing into multiple conference calls for my work so I notice this daily.

I also can reproduce this issue when listening to voicemails on my iPhone.

if Apple still has not resolved this issue, and has been happening on AirPods for awhile, doubt it will be resolved anytime soon.

Only started happening on my 11 Pro, no issues with my X, or other iPhones as tested and confirmed at the Apple store. It also happens on every call for me, not just conf bridges or voip lines, and only with AirPods and Powerbeats pro. Anything with a W1 or H1 chip. Other BT headsets are fine.

Your actually onto something, I bought the AirPods pros after I upgraded my phone to 11 pro, so didn’t get a chance to test them with my previous iPhone X. Also I just had a call to another mobile phone, and had the clicking issue. So your right, it may be related to iPhone 11’s.

I have the clicking issue with the left ear bud. I hear a clicking noise in the background when anc or transparency is active, but only when I‘m moving. Happens regardless of the AirPods being connected to my X or Mac or not.

Did you ever get this fixed? I am seeing threads all over the place on the clicking, but I have isolated it to only during calls and VM like you did...I don't see a lot of threads that say that...so curious if there is a fix since I bought these primarily for conference calls...thanks!

My conference calls all have been switched to online Microsoft team calls, which has resolved the issue fully. However if i dial in, i still get the random clicks once awhile. Its not as much anymore on dialed in calls, so I’m thinking maybe the new firmware has helped.

I'm having clicking noises on my right ear piece during Microsoft Teams calls if I move my head... if I stay perfectly still no noises... Happens only during teams call on my MacBook Pro 2019 and iPhone X... I guess it has something to do with the codec or the overall quality?

I had the same issue with my previous pair, my right pair would start clicking whenever i moved my head. Eventually got worse and was clicking all the time even playing music. I would get a warranty swap for sure...

I’m on my 5th pair now :( Im so certain that there is a hardware defect with the right APP. Every pair had issues with the right APP, only couple which also had issues with the left APP.

Fingers crossed this one works better! so far they are working great...

I’m having the same problem as you all. Big disappointment with my first set of AirPods and my iPhone 11 pro. Exchanged AirPods once already; have little hope after reading that this seems to be a more common problem than I would have expected.

So it’s interesting- I ended up buying another set of AirPods Pro for my 11 pro. Still clicked. I upgraded to the 12 pro. My AirPods issues have all been resolved...

My regular AirPods click with my iPhone 11 Pro also, and also only during phone calls. They sound perfect in every other context. Same thing happens with two different sets of AirPods. I suspect this is an iPhone 11 issue that Apple is going to pretend doesn't exist, much to our collective frustration.
