Everytime I open up my Macintosh HD, on the left there is a house icon with my name next to it, my user folder... whenever I click it, no matter which route I take to access this folder, it opens, immediately dissapears, and then everything on the desktop disapears, then reappears a moment later.. What could this be? Anyone have any ideas on how I could fix it? Thanks a lot in advance, Josh

That certainly sounds like Finder is crashing. Open up the Console app (in Applications --> Utilities) and have a look at some of the logs to see if you can tell what's going on. Perhaps console.log will tell you something, or maybe one of the logs listed under CrashReporter (in either ~/Library/Logs or /Library/Logs in Console's sidebar). Try looking for a file called finder.crash.log in there.

If you find entries but can't interpret them, feel free to post them here and we'll see what we can come up with.
