iPod Clicking wheel

I just bought a new nano 8gb for the wifes birthday, but as she uses the wheel to play the music, the play button really clicks a lot, almost as if grit is inside it compared to the pause and forward buttons, perhaps it is just new, but my old nano is really smooth. Are other owners having the same issue.

If so I want to return it...??
