First real post to this section of MacRumors. I've got a 2015 MBP which I frequently need to copy text from. I'm looking for a way to share the clipboard from this Mac to my 2009 MacPro. I am aware of Universal Clipboard and Handoff, but the MBP is a work Mac and I'd really rather not login to iCloud using my personal Apple ID.

I'm coming into this forum after years in the PowerPC forums and so a lot of what I know is from that experience. A long time ago there used to be an app called ClipboardSharing and that's all it did. Ran in the menubar of both Macs and you could copy/paste from one Mac to the other.

Is there anything like that now? I'm aware there are clipboard managers, but these keep a record of things and that isn't what I need. The kinds of stuff I am copying is momentary and gets pasted into other things. There's no need to keep a record of it (and no, it's not porn).

Can anyone help?

Hey Eric, it's been awhile eh!
I use this utility called "DropCopy", it's always worked for me.
Along with the clipboard it works for files and application transfers too.
I'm still using it on Mojave without any problems.

Screen sharing provides a shared clipboard as well.
You don’t even have to switch machines.
I use it quite often and it works for me much better then Universal Clipboard which requires turning off and an re-enabling Bluetooth from time to time.

Thanks!

I resorted back to using Teleport yesterday, which still functions on High Sierra, but which I'd tried to get away from. Thanks for the tip.

File transfer via drag and drop works as well.
I have different versions of macOS (or OS X) across my devices, the oldest is 10.6.8 and it works flawlessly.
Although I think file transfer within screen sharing requires at least Mountain Lion.
