Does anyone know of a program that can apply a clipping path to an image programmatically instead of using photoshop or something else manually?
I have a client who needs to do 30k images and to keep costs down I was just checking to see if there is such an animal.
I don't know of any. I know we use photoshop all the time but one by one we apply clipping paths.
Thanks.

Set up an action in photoshop and then do File > Automate > Batch

Let me know if you need more help.

I'm not sure those would work. How would the program know that one image is lets say a saw blade, another a glove and third a ladder?

How varied are the images? Are they easy to distinguish from the background? If it's relatively easy to pick the image up from the b/g (or vice versa) as a selection, then the selection can be converted to a path, and might be possible to automate the selection/conversion process to a degree.

Cheers!

30,000 images?
That's 82 images per day for a year!
I'll do it for $3/image.

I'll be appropriately flabbergasted if you find an automated solution that actually works.

There will be no automated solution for this. It will be manual and it will be expensive.

However, there are quick and easy ways to get effective clipping paths, and there are slow and clumsy ways to get ugly ones.

For many years, this was something of a speciality of mine. If you want to e-mail or message me via this board, I may be able to help.

Cheers!
