Moving from a first gen speakerless iPod touch, I was looking forward to waking up to something than annoying beeping sounds. However, it seems that Apple does not let you set your alarm to music, which is rather odd. Does a clock app exist yet that runs in the background, just like Apple's, and supports the retina display? Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Alarm clocks with music can't run in the background. If they used LocalNotifications in background they can't use your music. You're not going to get an app like you're looking for yet.

An actual bedside alarm clock that has an iPhone/iPod dock on it is what I use. I also set my iPhone as a just in case.

I prefer waking up to the radio rather than my music library, so that's partly why I've got such a thing.
