I like it. It's much faster than flicking multiple digital wheels up and down...
Agreed. The wheels might have been cute in 2007... but they really sucked in practicality.

I'd much rather type 7, 0, 0, AM and be done. Much easier.

Though I'm sad that the Timer still uses the silly wheels...

Yea I hate it too, after 10+ years I started looking for a 3rd party alternative for the first time to replace it.

By the way, it's not obvious, but the old way is still there, you can still roll through the numbers, and this is what I've been trying to use, but the UI/UX is so horrible in part because it's much smaller and input isn't as easy, it's a pain to use.

I’m going to have to say it. I don’t know why but I like the old way better. And it was easier to set up and use the sleep mode before too. Now it’s buried in the health app and it wants you to set sleep goals. It wasn’t broke don’t mess with it.

Didn't they bring back the scrolling view? It's still the new UI but you can scroll through the numbers.

I also hate it and it’s the wrong way around like who puts minutes BEFORE hour? Is that another American thing like if I type „12“ I mean „12:XX“ and NOT „00:12“ and also if you tap the hour field and type 123 I would expect it to automatically jump and put it like 12:3“ but NOPE it replaces the 12 with a 3 instead

If you are in the hour field then you are only putting in the hour and that can only be between 1 and 12 (assuming you are using a 12 hour clock). So the 3 would replace the 12 you already and there if you type 1 2 3.

If you have the whole clock selected then typing just 12 would be 00:12 and if you wanted 12:00 you would need to put in 1200 (or for 12:15 you'd put in 1215).

The new, recommended method is kinda "boring". But what's so hard typing in 7 0 0 or 1 2 3 0 or 6 1 5 on a keyboard?

Yep, double tap the hours or minutes and you can scroll like you did before. That said i find it loads easier to just type in the time i want.

I like it. So much faster than before.

Exactly. I don't get the big deal. It's a super flexible design and easy to see how it works. I've had no issues with it and actually like it now due to the flexibility. If I'm using the Magic Keyboard, I set it so the whole time is editable and type the time I need (i.e. 4 1 5). If I'm using the touchscreen, I highlight the individual values and scroll. Quick and simple.

And I live out of the default Calendar app managing family and my son's crazy sports schedules.

Wait, how to I access the old way?

The new way is a dramatic improvement. I didn't know they did this in iOS14 before upgrading, only found out when trying to set my first alarm in the new iOS. This alone is reason enough to upgrade to iOS14, for me at least. If I had known about this, I would have upgraded immediately instead of waiting a couple of weeks.

I set a lot of alarms and this is infinitely better. You can also tap the hours or minutes number and it will highlight just that so you don't have to type in all of the values, though it's fast and simple and it made my life easier.

I hated the old way because it was inefficient and buggy, it was an ill-placed gimmick. Too many times it happened that I'd scroll to a specific time only for the OS to revert it back to the original value that I didn't want. I found that UI to be too sensitive and erratic sometimes and a waste of time, which is ironic since we're talking about setting a reminder.

Wait, how to I access the old way?

It's right there, just slide your finger over the hours or minutes.
