I'm not too familiar with the cloning process and how it works. I am buying a mac mini to have a desktop version of my macbook pro. I don't have the cash to go all the way up to a mac pro at the moment. But, i already have two 24" displays. So a supped up mac mini seems like the way to go.

Is there a way to clone my existing desktop, applications and data over to the new mac mini's hard drive? How would i do this?

Is this the best way to go? Or should i just re-install all my apps on this new mac mini. Then how would i get all my files, settings and documents over to it?

I have a time machine backup of my existing macbook pro already.
