Clorox on iPhone 3GS Screen

Hello everyone,

I just got an iPhone 3GS yesterday, and I showed it to my friends and family. However, being the obsessive compulsive person that I am, I want to disinfect my phone. Would a wringed-out Clorox wipe work okay? I am particularly concerned about the oleophobic screen. The Clorox wouldn't mess up the oleophobic coating, would it?

Personally I would avoid something with bleach (even diluted).

If you want a more low tech solution, the phone does work with the clingy plastic it came in. Put it on for the fam and take it off when done. Or get an extra screen protector and (again) put it on (on top of the one that stays) for others.

Depending on the level of your OC you could run the thing for them and also use voice command.

I know this won't help if you have bad OC, but those other folks are no more clean or dirty than you are. And if you do they will understand. But really, good luck!

I just use Purell on a paper towel.

I use bausch and lomb glasses lens cleaners, they're basically little alcohol wipes. Work really well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know it sounds pretty obtuse, but I try to keep frequently-handled objects clean to prevent the spread of colds or other bugs. I certainly don't have full OCD, just a few of the characteristics...

As long as those cleaners don't remove the oleophobic coating or react with it to form some kind of toxic product, I will definitely try them out.

Understandable, but sterilizing your phone is only helpful if other people use it in addition to yourself. I doubt you're going to infect yourself with cooties.
