I've noticed after opening an app that is not in my dock, when closing it the app remains in my dock, albeit still open/active. I then right click > Quit, but the icon still remains in my dock. To get rid of it I have to then right click > options > remove from dock, which gets a bit tedious.

Is there a way of getting closed apps to auto remove from my dock, so I don't have to do this every time? I prefer to just have certain apps in my dock, but by the end of the day I've got loads of apps added there.

In the screenshot below, I've indicated the apps that I have opened, used, closed and quit, but they remain in my dock.. Is this just the way it is?

Cheers :)

PS. ⌘Q quits the foreground app, so you don't need to right click the dock or use the Menu Bar quit option

Wow, that's even better thanks. That's probably helped me to tripple my productivity, giving me time for an extra coffee :)
