Can I get some opinions on closed lid operation on the portables? It just seems really stupid to have to lug around a full sized (or close to) keyboard to be able to use your computer when the lid is closed. What kind of stuff do you do when the lid is closed? What alternatives are there to a full size keyboard? Thanks. (there is a reason behind this post. i'm working on a personal project that involves some patent searching and possible filing :) please be honest and as accurate as possible. this will help me out more than you all know! :D +20 points to everyone who helps out. )

in order for Macs to be awake with the display closed, you need a keyboard/mouse/and display. Other wise the Mac will just go back to sleep. Anyhoo - people use their computers with their displays shut to take advantage of a larger display at home or work.
