Closing on 2 years later...is MobileMe Stable, Fast and Worth the Money?

I am thinking on getting MobileMe mainly for the email sync and find my iPhone.

I am currently using Mail Notifier to push me new emails. Is MobileMe more "battery intensive" then this solution?

I want to know of your experiences is the email push instant or nearly instant and how accurate/reliable is the find my iPhone?
 
I didn't have MobileMe in the beginning so I can't speak to if it's improved. But I've had it for the last 8 mos and I love it. The email push hits my phone at the same time as it hits my computer (sometimes half a sec or so before!). There have been no outages since I've had it. Find my iphone is fairly accurate. I tried it again yesterday and it pinpointed which apartment building I was in :p I use ical extensively so I love the over the air syncing with that. I've been very happy with the service and plan on renewing in a few months.

The worst aspect of Mobile Me is iDisk.
The free (or paid) DropBox is massively better in every way.

The rest of MobileMe is fine. If a little over-priced.

I see. What is wrong with the iDisk? Is it slow or not enough storage? About the price it's selling for $62 on eBay for a brand new copy which is a whole lot better then $99:p

Good point! I forgot to mention idisk. It is very, very verrrrrrry slow. I quit using it as soon as I got an external hard drive.
 
In terms of push mail and syncing multiple Macs and iPhones, MobileMe is outstanding.

Me.com, on the other hand, is absolutely dire. Slow, buggy, a bag of hurt. As such I avoid it as much as possible :)

All in all, MobileMe is great. I find it good value.

Ah well that sucks but I don't think I would have used it anyways except for maybe uploading some Word or PowerPoint documents (they don't exceed 10 MB so it can't be that slow to upload them or am I wrong:eek: )

I've been a MobileMe user since day one. For the most part I've loved the service! If you have an iPhone, the way the two interact is fantastic. My biggest issue with MobileMe is the web interface. As someone mentioned before it is awful. While it looks pretty, the Mail interface has errors every time I use it for more than five minutes. I really wish they would address this!

That is the Mail interface gives error on your computer right? Not on the iPhone. I am more interested in it working flawlessly on the iPhone itself
 
I don't use the web version because as others have said and pointed out, it sucks.

I stick to Mail and my iPhone. I find value in iDisk, although I do wish they would give use a 30GB.

The simple integration of MobileMe with the iPhone is great and have loved it since Jul 9, 2008.
 
I've been a member since 2002 and yes the service is GREATLY improved. The only 2 complaints I have is the speed of the iDisk, but the most frustrating thing is the webmail interface. It's beautiful and very functional, however, it is painfully slow. I will click on an email and wait 10-15 seconds for it to load and then type a reply and send and another 10-15 seconds to send. I haven't tried it on my Mac at home, but I use it at work on a PC running XP.

Overall, the find my iphone, over the air syncing, & ease of use are worth the $
 
I love the push email, and FindMyPhone is sweet. The only drawback is price, but I canceled my web hosting service and forwarded my domains to my MobileMe account, which saved me quite a bit. This would not work for people with real websites, though, as MobileMe doesn't support CGI or PHP.

i was a .mac user for many years and when they renamed it into mobileme i had tons of trouble with about everything. by now the problems have disappeared and i sort of like the service.

the syncing of settings and data between macs and iphone is good. idisk is a bit slow but good enough for the usual files up to 5MB.

the webinterface for mobileme looks good and works flawlessly for me on my windows XP and windows 7 computers with safari as browser.

mail has sometimes some delays. it takes my iphone g3 minutes to update mails although webaccess and reception is good. but all in all it works now.

i was close to cancelling the service. but now if you buy mobileme via amazon for ~$70/year the overall convenience and the ability to sync keychains is worth the money for me.

i do not use the photo gallery. i prefer flickr for that.
 
Pay for mobileme only if you are an apple fanboy. Otherwise, use FREE services like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts and Dropbox for FREE. FREE. They will all sync just fine with your iPhone.

This is true, but only to an extent. MobileMe syncing is much more integrated and simple to use than trying to do the same with Google's calendars, contacts, etc. Not to mention MobileMe is much simpler to set up.

I've used (and still use) both, but at least for contacts and calendars, MobileMe works better IMO.
 
Another vote for MobileMe as an excellent iPhone "accessory" here. I've been a .Mac user since 2003 and I haven't had any real trouble with it at all, even during the MobileMe transition. Push email is great with my iPhone (mail usually arrives on my iPhone before it shows up on my Mac) and the Find my iPhone feature has always been accurate when I've checked it, even with a spare first-gen iPhone I have that doesn't have GPS.

Amazon or eBay are definitely the way to go instead of paying full retail. I just picked up a renewal code on eBay for $62.
 
Mobile Me is nice if you have a PC.
But it is awesome if you have a Mac, and a must have if you have more than one mac.
 
I've had MobileMe for several months now and find it fast and trouble-free. Also, the security features for lost/stolen iPhones seems worthwhile to me, although thankfully I haven't had to use them.

That's true, it might be a little easier to setup, but Google is just as integrated. If you have snow leopard, it integrates with your iCal and Apple Contacts as well. Then you get OTA syncing with Google contacts and cal as well.

When I used mobileme last for the trial, it didn't work as seemlessly as Google's, and for me, when I'm paying $69/year for something, it NEEDS to work MUCH better than the free version of the services, otherwise it's a waste of money to me.
 
I paid for it and don't "regret it" as it gave me push email for awhile, but for me it is no longer worth it. Gmail now offers push and calendar syncing.

Find my iPhone is the ONLY reason why I would consider it. All the other solutions they provide are completely not worthwhile.

I use Mobileme and it works great for me I paid $60 for it. but you are absolutely right... if Apple wants to charge $99/year for their service they have to do something to set it apart or make it better than the service which anyone can get for free.
