Ever since I moved to OpenCore/Catalina and later I find that Clover Configurator just doesn't work properly. It hangs forever after clicking the "mount efi partition" even though it mounts it (pretty much all I use it for!). And it always has to be force quit, I cannot quit it - everytime I come back to the app the beachball is rolling.

In Mojave it works flawlessly and as fast as I would expect.

Is this a normal experience or does it point to other issues with my Mac?

In Catalina it works fine, in my installation (Hackintosh i9 10900) I found no problems with Clover; however, since I moved to OpenCore, I don't work with Clover, and it is not recommended to use Clover Configurator to work on OpenCore plists (it can mess it), as I heard. I use Catalin 10.15.7 for my installation as I found Big Sur and Monterey very difficult to work with in OpenCore.

Thanks for the reply StoneJack. I essentially use Clover Configurator simply for mounting the EFI volume - nothing else, especially not doing the configs etc (hard enough getting those right at the best of times). Its just driving me crazy with its slowness and constant 'beachballing'! Since Catalina and then BigSur and Monetery it just doesnt work properly. Everytime Im forced back to a native boot system (Mojave for me) I am surprised about how nicely and troublefree it works.

It’s really easy to mount the EFI partition from Terminal
- list the disk(s)/volumes and identify the EFI partition with
diskutil list
- mount the EFI partition with
sudo diskutil mount /dev/disk0s1
- unmount the partition (can be done from Finder too)
diskutil unmount /dev/disk0s1

I cannot edit or delete EFI Partitions from Mojave no matter which version of Clover Configurator I use. Can find them via diskutil list but cannot mount them. "sudo diskutil mount /dev/disk2" results =
JVee-Fast-Mac:~ BigJim$ sudo diskutil mount /dev/disk0s2
sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set

Not sure what I am missing.

Your sudo is b0rked. You’ll need to enable the root account and “su”, then chown/chmod the sudo binary.

A bit alarming is ehat caused this.

My problem was that I had used Clover Configurator previously on multiple separate OS Volumes in order to make Titan Ridge updates to open core. Trying to replace using new Open Core App for Non supported Macs upgrade to Monterey. Couldn't even boot from install USB made via above Open Core App until I followed bognanw and deleted old open core from EFI (multiples). Now have 12.6.2 installed and perfect on this MacPro 5.1.

I have downloaded the Open Core Configurator since I have two more Mac 5.1 to install and clear out previous EFI files. Simply cannot find any reference to use the Open Core Configurator tho.
