I didnt even realize Apple added this because I tried it before and it didn't work and I don't know exactly when they added it but now you can quit out of any app by pressing Cmd+W on a physical keyboard, just like the Mac (Cmd+Q).

Seriously I don't see it anywhere in the release notes but it works! Maybe OS16 did it but it could have been before.

Maybe that hotkey is part of the stage manager, which was not a thing before.

It’s been a thing for a while… but I don’t remember when exactly. Years though.

Definitely not years. I tired it earlier this year and it didn’t work.

This answer is about the answer everyone gave before:

Apple’s website doesn’t mention it and if you hold Command in a app to see the list of keyboard shortcuts, it doesn’t list it either.

Anyway, overall a pretty small addition but I appreciate it. Don’t even need Stage Manager turned on.

Why ctr-W and not cmd-Q as on the Mac? Why use a different key combo on the two platforms?

Sorry I don’t know why I typed Ctrl. I meant Cmd+W. So I guess it’s not exactly the same as Mac because Cmd+W on Mac closes the window but the app still runs but Cmd+W on iPad functions like Cmd+Q on Mac.

I would prefer Cmd+W to still just minimize the app and add Cmd+Q to quit the app I guess.

A little bizarre that it’s not published anywhere as far as I can see.
