cmd z mistake!!!

I have drop a load of files on to my external hard drive, into a folder I have created and named. I pressed cmd-Z by mistake and is took all the files out the folder as well as taking it back to been a new folder/unnaled folder.

Does any know how I can get those files back?

I have tried the undo button ect...

Where are the files now?
Are they "back where they started from"?

If you can't see them, can you search for them?
If you find one "by searching", you may be able to find the rest.

They should be back where they started from.

(Should be the) Worst case scenario: they are on the drive you backup to. You do backup, right?

Did you copy and paste them or did you move them? If you copied then you still have the originals.
