I'd like to use tripple channel memory with both dual CPUs, can I use 3x16GB sticks or 6x8GB sticks is better?

6x8GB for sure. Ram is cheap nowadays, so check for a deal on a 6x16GB setup.

You're welcome. By the way - thanks for the time and effort you've put into macs fan control app! While the mac version is superb, the windows version - stable/beta, has a weird issue which causes the fans' rpm to drop to 0, causing the SMC sensors to report a glitch with the fans on the next boot into macos. The glitch can only be reset by disconnecting the power cable.

I've just bought a cMP 5,1 today (on ebay) specially for an extensive testing.
