My cMP 5,1 running Mojave, suddenly will not go to sleep. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

Tried rebooting. Don’t see anything servers connected. Quit all programs, etc... Still refuses to sleep.

The only thing I can think of that I did differently is a few Zoom calls (removed Zoom App).

Thanks for any troubleshooting suggestions.

Reset NVRAM/SMC as I saw suggested on another thread. Disconnected all USB cables, etc...
No dice. Refuses to sleep. Odd thing is it always slept before no problem, so something happened and I did not add any new hardware.

In my experience the sleep problem was always related to the software I installed. Usually it’s a “helper”. Uninstalling software sometimes leaves theirs “helpers” running and other bits.

Thank you, I agree. How would I go about finding out which software is causing this? I tried Activity Monitor but not sure what to look for.

Check your print queue. I once had accidentally sent a photo to a print on a printer which wasnt connected to the mac. It sat in a print queue and the mac wouldnt sleep until i deleted the print job.

EUREKA! Thank you so, so much krakman, you solved it and made my day! Wish I could buy you a beer.

Fantastic, that's exactly what it was. I was printing to PDF from a Word document yesterday and accidentally sent it to a printer that was not connected.

You rock. Thanks so much!

I'm experiencing the same thing on the same computer for the first time. Tried the print reset thing but no good. Looking at Activity Monitor I can list those things preventing sleep and it seems like it may be 'Photos Agent' but a force quit doesn't kill it permanently. Never had sleep issues before this.

Ive reset PRAM and SMC and I can now manually sleep it but not via Energy Saver settings - it still ignores that. The displays sleep ok, just not the Mac. Anyone have a similar experience and/or fix?
