I have a recently acquired MacPro5,1. It came with several upgrades, and one that I added. I first noticed this soon after getting the cMP when after waking from sleep, remaining powered on for a few seconds then abruptly restarting. Today this happened again after waking the cMP up by pressing a keyboard key.

My research has identified a few possible fixes. I have not tried SMC/NVRAM resets yet, but will try that once I get home. However, those don't usually seem to fix the problem. The other identified problems are FileVault and the presence of 3rd party hardware. My MacPro has a few upgrades; it came with an OWC SATA III PCIe adapter + onboard 500GB 2.5" SSD, as well as a non-Apple video card. I've tried a Vega 56 (running with a 150w 'efficiency' BIOS) and a Dell RX580 that's apparently known to cause problems. It also has a non-standard processor upgrade for a single CPU cMP; a Xeon X5680 @ 3.3 GHz, as well as 48GB ECC DDR3 in triple channel.

However, I'm not sure where to start looking for problems. Last time it happened I looked at the logs, and being only passingly familiar with OS X logs was unsure where to start. However, this has since happened in Windows 10 (native install, not Boot Camp). As a condition of the sale, I also snagged the original ATI 5770, so I can test with that as well, though it won't be happy with Mojave.

Has anyone run into this before? Where should I start troubleshooting first?

@MIKX Thanks, I saw it. I'm not sure which installer I used, but it was only a week or two ago. The seller had Sierra on a hard drive, so I downloaded the Mojave installer and installed it to the SSD. If 18G103 is the most recent Mojave, that's probably what I have installed. I'll check once I get home from work.
