I'm in the process of overhauling my site to include a professional blog and forum software. I already own a 10-pack license of vBulletin software so I'm mainly sticking with that forum solution, although now I need an integrated CMS package that works with vB, my blogging software (likely WordPress) so visitors only need to have one log-in account to post comments and forum posts.

Would this require custom code?

Or would you recommend an all in one solution like Drupal or Joomla?

Just to be sure, I've checked out both CMS packages and they either use phpBB or SMF forum software integrated.

Most likely it will require custom code or a 3rd party script. Most of these integration solutions are less than ideal.

It looks like there's a bridge but it appears outdated:

vbulletin.org is the main resource for these sort of hacks. Alternatively you can look for a blog/CMS that specifically is designed for vbulletin. I forget the exact ones, but they exist.

MacRumors front end is a custom script, and just does basic vbulletin integration. I didn't have to worry about a global login process however... which made it far easier. I just have to feed the threads into the forum and I maintain a StoryID/ThreadID association table to link a story to a particular thread.
