CMS help

I was hoping someone here would have any tips. I've recently started doing some freelance web design. I have a client interested in a CMS to update content, but they also want to be able to add pages.
I'm not sure if I can handle it or if I should let someone more experienced do it. I haven't used anything more than cushycms.
But I do want to learn it anyway.

Does anyone have any recommendation for a stable CMS? How's the learning curve? Any advice? Or online/book resources?

I use Joomla as a CMS. Fairly simple to use, plus it's very powerful, and there's a great developer community.

There's lots of tutorials on the web for it - Google is your friend!

Drupal

I've used drupal. It's extremely powerful (lots of additional modules) and does the basics well (simple page, forum & blog).
I'd say it has a fairly abrupt learning curve because you'll want to figure out how to add google analytics, captcha, etc and that takes some time to find among the 3rd party modules since it's not native.
However, once you've figured out the 3 or 4 extra modules you will use on every site, it's a breeze and it does things well.

One thing Joomla does a lot better is ready-to-use themes : the joomla themes are beautfily and the community is lively. Can't say as much about the drupal themes. Of course, if you're going to redesign a theme for a customer, it doesn't really matter.
