Cocktail Settings

I have a question on setting up Cocktail 3.7.

I only use Pilot, but want to make sure I have it set right.

Within Pilot > Tasks

I have everything checked (Clean Caches, Run Cron Scripts, Delete all rotated log files, & repair disk permissions).

There is also an options tab.

Within that I have Clean selected caches (System, User, & Internet) all checked. Within that there is another options box. This is what I don't know what all I should check.

Under system (Pilot > Options > Options > System)
My options are "When Cleaning system caches clean:
Virtual Memory Swap Files
Kernel Caches
Core Files
Temporary Print (CUPS) files
Other Temporary files

I am thinking all should be checked but I wasn't sure about the kernel caches.

A little off Topic, but I had read a very in depth review of Cocktail, and there was not one good thing said about it (by someone who knows how to program, none the less). If I find that link I'll post here. I'd stay away from it.

Wow! I did a search, but couldn't find much directly related to Cocktail.

I am only into my 6 month as a Mac owner and bought it since it made MacWorld's "Gem" List.

The first time I used it I wiped out TOO much and lost all my settings. I was crapping my pants, but luckily Apple Tech support got me rolling again.

Please do post if you find that info.

I don't want to learn Unix, so what is the best way to keep things clean? And empty caches? Internet are easy to dump. Coming from Windows XP I just assumed some sort of maintence is required even on a Mac.

Am I wrong? Do these pretty much take care of themselves?

Personally i use Onyx b/c i dont know many Unix commands and at this point in my life, Unix is the last thing i want to learn. Never had any problems with Onyx, or heard any "bashing" of it either.

I use Onyx and Terminal "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" for maintenance. I tried Cocktail but liked Onyx better

Onyx or Mainmenu. I use Mainmenu but Onyx has a few other options that I user every now and again.

I don't think I'd pay for something when I could just run maintenance scripts in terminal. I did donate a small amount to the Mainmenu guy because I think it's such a great utility.
