iOS Cocoa Touch book

Hello guys,

I am new in programming. I used be HTML, CSS coder and I've forced myself to learn programming language. I have finally finished Objective-C by Stephen Kochan recently. Now I would like to learn something more about Cocoa Touch. Could you please recommend me any book?

My apologies. It looks like they've updated their book to be based on Swift and not Objective-C. You could try transitioning to Swift, if you feel like it, but since you're just getting started and just learned Objective-C, I would suggest either the Big Nerd Ranch book or looking into Apress' previous version "Learn iOS 7 App Development", which is based on Obj-C.

I have stared to read "iOS Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide" then I've realized if is it good idea to read for beginner like me this book. I mean I had to download Xcode 5 because the book is written to use this version. I used to Xcode 6 even if I read book by Steven Kochan (Xcode 5). But reason why I started with book by Steven was that I am not good at english enough. I read Czech version. The big problem is that not many books are translated to Czech. I wanted to understand basics. Could you please tell me which way should I go? I am in doubt. Should I keep the book or should I leave Objective-C and start Swift? Thank you very very much
 
If you really went all the way through Kochan and Objective-C is the only programming language you know then stay with Objective-C. You will probably learn swift at some point but you should learn iOS first. I would recommend that you use the latest Xcode and the Big Nerd Ranch book or if you prefer use the version of Xcode the book uses. You can ask more specific questions here or other forums (does Big Nerd Ranch have a forum?).

iOS programming changes rapidly. You need to develop a strong base of knowledge so you can keep up with the changes.

Thank you for answer. I bought "Learn iOS 7 App Development" and it looks like was great step I like this book so far :)
