COD4 Playing without a disk

So was readin here the other day and saw that if you download COD4 you can play it without a disk, as this true for the retail version as well? like if i buy it from amazon and install the game, do i need to put the disk in every time i play? Im on 10.6 and will be playing in SL, not bootcamp/fusion. Thanks guys.

If you are playing multiplayer you do not need the disc. However, for single player it is needed in the cd drive when playing. This is for the retail version only.
