COD4 profile corrupted file! Argh!

Have just returned to playing COD4 after a years absence and have also updated to 10.6 in the last few days too to make life easier.

Anyhow, ran COD4 and it appears my profile which i had crafted with hundreds of hours of exquisite kills and such, has become corrupted and i'm back to zero!

I see within the game file structure that theres an "mpdata.corrupt" file in there alone with the "mpdata" file which has a new date stamp. Are these the files I need to consider deleting and retrieving from a backup copy?

As an additional note to my own post, is the player data file linked somehow to the serial number entered??
