Just thought you might like to read this response I got from Coda when I asked for a no-BS response to a question about an actual OS X native version of Finale:
"Finale 2003, our new upgrade release, runs under Macintosh OS X as a Classic
application. As such you have full access to the many new features and
benefits of this version. It does not, however, run as a Native application
in Mac OS X. As Finale's cross-platform compatibility is very important to
many of our customers, we released Finale 2003 for Macintosh as a Classic OS
X application shortly after the release of Finale 2003 for Windows so all of
our users can continue to freely exchange current Finale files.
Coda is strongly committed to delivering a Native version of Finale for Mac
OS X as quickly as we can. We value our Macintosh customer base and we
appreciate your continuing support. Finale Macintosh is undergoing an array
of architectural improvements that will benefit all Macintosh users as well
as facilitate full OS X implementation. A number of these changes are
apparent in the release of Finale 2003.
Finale 2004, scheduled for this summer (2003), will be a Native OS X
application. At that time, we will consider building an OS X native version
of NotePad since it is based on the Finale technology anyway.
