I've gotten a few of the promotional codes, and I've tried to get quite a few more. I only try on apps that I think I might use.

I just have to ask:

Is it really that difficult for someone to post back to the thread that they have used the code? On the 3 or 4 that I have used, it seems to me that it only took a few seconds to let my fellow forum users know that this code has been used. I guess common courtesy died a little while back...:(

Really a sad commentary on our society.

Thanks to all the developers who take time to post codes, and extra thanks to those that make it a challenge by having a contest of some sort to get the codes.

My $.02....

Thanks for reading my ranting!

+1

I tried using a promo code posted earlier, since there were 5 codes listed, and only three people had posted saying they used a code, but the remaining two codes had been used already. Thanks lurkers. If you're on here already, how hard is it to post a one sentence reply stating that you used a particular code??:confused:

Devs should have people send them pm's for the codes, and then the dev can update the thread when all of the codes are gone. This way these people will actually have to log in if they want the codes, since they don't have the common courtesy to let other people know that they are using one.

I COMPLETELY agree.

It's common courtesy. Just as it's also common courtesy to actually write a review of the application, after you've said you would.
I for one always post that I have used a code, and the lacking of doing so shows laziness or down right ignorance.

Developers post promo codes for their benefit as well as yours.
By taking these codes, you agree to review the application, unless otherwise stated.

Ask yourself this Thursday, would you take a gift given to you, and not even reply with a simple "Thank You"?
If you answered yes, then your heartless. If however the answer was no, then believe it or not, you are human,
so please (for the love of God) show it now and again ... Aye?

I'd now personally like to thank all the developers who have taken a risk,
their time, and their effort in creating or posting these codes for us, you truly do rock!

[Edit] - On second thought, this deserves to be a STICKY.

yep, same thing happened to my codes a few threads below. Not even a thank you from most.

From my experience people appreciate things more when they pay for them. I gave away my app for free 1 day (thanksgiving) which resulted in 4950 free downloads. What did I get in return? A bunch of complaints and bad reviews. However people who paid $5 for my app found the time to come back and write a nice review. Did it help my sales at all? Nope, right back to normal the next day.

I see what developers are trying to do by giving away free codes but take it from me, it does not work! You have 50 codes, save them for when it counts. Carry them with you, you will meet important people here and there. Give it to them as a gift! Save 1 for CNN!
