There are rumors running around about a new Mac Pro this year due to hints in the code for El Capitan:

Relevant excerpt for those who don't read articles:

"First up, code in OS X El Capitan offers a hint that a new Mac Pro may be on its way soon. There's a reference to a new Mac that's codenamed "AAPLJ95,1" within El Capitan, according to Pike's Universum.

The current Mac Pro is similarly codenamed AAPLJ90,1 so there is some logic to this new reference being a new version of the professional-level workstation.

Another clue that this is the Mac Pro is the fact that the code hints that there are 10 USB 3.0 ports."

I used to believe them but they got their Infos wrong every year. Last year they said similar thing and nothing. I find it hard to take them serious.

I didn't check it myself, may be the code name is really at there, and Apple really did some test on this 7,1, but they just didn't release this product to us for some reason.

IMO, the code name is there only means there is something new in Apple's lab, but not necessary means the machine is about to release.

Kind of get the feeling the Mac Pro product manager doesn't have anything so just tells someone to periodically throw "tidbits" into the plists and kext where will do no harm but enough to keep the rumors from going stale.

I also believe Apple worked on it for a while… But since they told us GPUs are more important then CPUs now, I wonder if they will release a new Mac Pro later this year with Polaris based GPUs and USB-C/TB3. I assume they held back for those technologies to launch all in one go for an amazing update. Meanwhile I keep hoping and stick a 7970 into my Mac Pro...
