College Help

Hey everyone

Im starting to look at colleges and it would be great if i could get some input from you guys on the topic. Im not sure of not only what college but also what i should major in, and i would love some help.

Im obsessed with macs and i would love to end up working at apple or somewhere similar. I get As and Bs in school and i'm maxing out the day with computer electives including multimedia, desktop design, and two hours a day with visual basic and C++.
I basically do everything on my mac which is my problem. I love doing so many things on it that i don't want to have to narrow it down to one thing to major in. I running a recording studio from my basement (which is my main source of income), make websites for local businesses, and constantly edit videos and photos.

So any suggestions for a major (or double major)? what would companies like apple be looking for?

And, what are good schools? preferably east coast.

Your major depends on what you want to do in life. Do you like mixing and mastering? Do you like writing code? Do you like support in an IT setting?

If you like your record label, perhaps go that route, so you get experience in the upper level of equipment. CS is good if you like code, and finally a MIS major is good if you like supporting computers.

Majors matter less to an employer than having good references, and a CV of stuff you have done. I'd see about trying to get people to sign off on you and your work, and perhaps seek part time jobs to get a solid employment history.

If you're able to run a music studio and make a profit, then kudos to you, and have fun and don't stop doing it as a hobby, but I would strongly suggest that you not try to make recording be your full time career unless it is something that you're so passionate about that you wouldn't be happy if you didn't. Running your own music studio that's able to provide a realistic income for a single adult living even a lower middle class lifestyle is extremely difficult to achieve and maintain. And it's almost impossible for it to provide enough income to support a family, if you ever see that as a possibility in your future.

yeah thats how my brother is with recording hes at UMass right now doing SRT. but i dont really want to go that route. I love recording, but i dont want to be limited to only that
