Hi all. First, this is my first topic here on the boards (and only my third post if memory serves correctly, but I hope more will come :)
I recently sold my Sony Vaio laptop in hopes of buying a new lappy, probably a Mac. I'm a computer science major, so I do a lot of programming, etc. I'm wanting to get either a MacBook or MBP (If all MacBook's are solo core and/or IIG)
However, lately, we've been working quite a bit in Visual Studio. My first question is has anyone tried out Visual Studio (specifically C#) under Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro?
Second, if the compatibility with current Intel macs is not there yet, what type of laptop would you recommend?

PS: I have a pretty decent PC desktop that I can program on, but I would really like to have some kind of an environment on the notebook to work with as well.

A Macbook Pro will suit you nicely, one of the 15" jobbies will be fine, though go for the 17" if the extra real estate is more important to you than the portability factor.

Enjoy it!

Edit: Remember, plenty of RAM and generally as good a spec as you can afford, you wont regret it!

Just to make it clear, when you're running Windows via BootCamp on an Intel Mac, you're actually running Windows. Visual Studio will work just fine.

First off, congrats on your decision to purchase a Mac. With Boot Camp, you will be running Windows by partitioning your MacIntosh HD therefore, Visual Studio will be running as it would normally on a PC running Windows.

Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the input guys.
This won't be my first Mac, so I'm no stranger to the lovable OS X. (Owned a PM G4 and an iBook G3) In fact, if it weren't for games and now VS I would be all Mac all the time. :) Here's hoping Leopard has in-OS Win support.

Totty,

I was in your shoes 2 years ago and decided to buy a 12" PB. I haven't looked back since. I have upgraded from the 12 to a 15 and now have a 15" MBP. You will love the mac side and the flexibility to use winblows whenever you have to.

good luck.
