My old (mid 2007) 24" died last week.

Short of money, I've replaced it with an equally aged 20".

I'm having problems with the color, and can't get it calibrated to my liking.

The default profile is too blue and lacks contrast, and no amount of twiddling has yet got something suitable.

I've downloaded an old LCD profile which is better, but not ideal.

Suggestions appreciated, please and thanks.

BRIEF UPDATE: since checking whether the 'Shades' app was active, and turning it on and then off, the previous blue tinge seems to have gone and contrast is much greater (perhaps too great). Hhhmmm... might this be a potential impending GPU issue?
