Color problems when printing...

I am designing some simple business cards and am having problems with colors. I created the logo in AI, converted it to EPS, imported it to InDesign and created the card from there.

The problem that I am having is that my logo is a Dark Green, and shows up as such on my displays. However when I print the file, it comes out as a bright green. I have tried adjusting the shades to make it darker, and even lighter but it ALWAYS prints out the same color. I have tried printing to an Inkjet and a Laser.

Other colors seem to be able to change there shades and reflect such when printing. This doesn't happen when was creating the same type of files with the same programs on my PC.

Any idea's???

Maybe there could be a bug with the program. Try exporting it to some other program that you can print from.

I have exported as a PDF as well as to Word. No luck.

Are you designing in CMYK?

Are you sure you have the right printer profiles? I mean, this is a pretty standard issue in our industry. A pantone process book will usually help with this in the future.

Pretty sure. I think I managed to get it to work. I had to force myself to go almost to black then work my way back until what printed out on paper matched what it should even if it didn't match on screen.

Your monitor is obviously not calibrated to your printer. When ever you design anything for print, you need to use known Pantone or CMYK values. It doesn't really matter what it looks like on screen, or even what it looks like when your inkjet prints it out, if you use CMYK or Pantone values from the colour guides, when the cards are printed offset, the colours will be correct.
Inkjet printers have a habit of making every colour very bright and vivid, and have a much larger colour gamut compared to CMYK or Spot colour printing.

Most monitors also have a larger colour gamut than what is achievable in print. Be very careful designing anything to look right on screen, or inkjet, you should always use the Pantone Guides for correct results.

Is your LCD monitor calibrated? If not it is just a matter of luck if it is displaying color correctly or not. Get something llike the "eye one" and calibrate it.

The problem is almost certsinly not with your printers. You are adjusting the color by eye on an un-calibrated monitor
