I remember seeing a guide awhile ago on how to color an iBook yourself. I was wondering if there was one for the Macbook? I would much rather buy one from ColorWare, but thats an extra $500 I don't have, and I know I could do it myself.

The difference is, the iBook was paintable because the outer casing could be made clear and painted easily from the inside. I wouldn't try that on a MacBook, as it's a totally different case.

I am on the verge of using coloware myself, I purchased used black cases and a white keyboard, to use however I think I might try someone local first I can have it sprayed by CW Elaborations here in Denver. they will charge $200 or so and the local Mac guy wil swap everything out for me for the parts or 1 1/2" labor.

I recall seeing somewhere that one could take the case plastics off and dye them with plastic dye. I can't seem to find where, though. I'm sure its totally possible, but it would be a lot of work, and in my eyes not a lot of return besides bragging rights, unless you have a fervent desire to be different. I personally would be sure at least to get a second set of spare cases (the bottom, top case, etc.) beforehand so if it doesn't work, you ruin it, or you just don't like the result, it's a matter of swapping out the case to get it back to the way it was.

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.
