you did a good job (was this yours..?)! my fiance tried doing that with his old iBook and it looked like poop ;)

Yeah, it was mine. I did a G3 iBook as well (it's on there as the "SkyBook"), since you can paint those from the inside and they look better than trying a G4. But yeah - can't change the trackpad color, unfortunately. Woulda liked a white one.

yeah, i *think* his was a G3 - he took it apart and basically soaked it in nail polish remover to get rid of the white and then spray painted it blue (and then black, later) - in the end though, the thing just looked like it'd been run over a few times. :p

For those who have a Mac Mini who are looking at getting a coloured one maybe they could consider getting a skin from FastMac.com for $69.
Here is the link

Here is also a link with how some of them look

Oh yeah, back then before Apple made cool cases I modded like crazy. The blue mac is a Performa 5260/120 and I did a crappy job. The black Mac is a Beige G3. I did a pretty good job on that one, although u can't see any great detail because of my 20 dollar camera. Which reminds me, would anyone like to donate a better camera to me? I am a poor man.

Isn't colorware quite pricey? Wouldn't let it anywhere near my mac anyway.

Is there any kind of special paint to get when you paint it yourself. Colorware uses a special paint but i dont think you can just buy the paint.

Also does anybody have painted ipods.

If you paint a mac black will it run at a higher temperature

You can special order one, but I imagine it wold cost a fortune.

Its like $450 more than the regular iMac. :( Plus I don't think it looks good on them anyway.

I <3 the iPods though. This is my dream one, to bad I could get a 60gb for the cost.

Echoing a previous poster, what kind of paint does colorware use? They say that they have their own special formula, but it can't be all that different from paint one can actually buy. Any painters know of a paint that would closely approximate colorware's offering?

Any matte color enamel in an aerosol can (high quality - not the cheap stuff) will adhere decently enough, but a professional job would require powder coating and you don't want to get into that unless experienced!

i checked out the link for mini cases. I bet they make alot of extra bucks from the deposit money after the buyer mangles the case while removing it. I'm a little timid to remove mine myself (or I'd already have that memory upgrade)
