Hi all.

After using my iPad Pro 1 for over 1 1/2 years it has startet to show signs of coloring.
Its pretty annoying and seems to grow slowly in strength.

Does anybody have the same problem or can this be repaired

My iPad Pro 12.9 just began exhibiting this problem, as well. It is particularly noticeable when moving/scrolling elements are on the screen, and is quite distracting.

I do not have Apple Care, and I'm not willing to pay the >$600 replacement cost for the screen, so fingers crossed Apple offers a fix to affected customers.

what is the chance to get it fixed even when the ipad is out of warranty?
I can't say but Apple does have great customer support and the only way you'll find out is to take it in

Good luck

It doesn't hurt to just make an appointment and ask (if there is store near you). I have had apple replace countless phones of mine out of warranty. Hopefully you get a nice genius.

Are these pressure marks? Every Apple laptop I’ve ever had has exhibited these eventually. I figured it was because I would carry them in my bag and they’d be squeezed to some extent. The obsession with thinness (which I’ve largely bought into every single time) comes with some consequences.

I wonder if the contrasting patterns you see correspond to some internal geometry of batteries or whatnot which might be pressing against the screen internals?

Misread the post.

I have to agree that your backlighting looks to be missing in places like some of the LED backlights are not working.

Being out of warranty, it is Apple's call.

If those were pressure marks by batteries as you suggest, those line would be vertical and not horizontal as batteries lie vertically in two columns inside the Pro. OP, I believe this a defective LCD (a manufacturing issue) and I believe Apple will exchange without any problems.

Has anyone convinced Apple to replace the screen/device due to this issue? My request was denied. I was offered a $600 replacement, but deferred in the hope a service bullletin eventually came out.

My screen hasn’t gotten much worse, but it is still quite distracting and unfortunate for photo editing.
