So this morning @ 4:30am some nitwit managed to plow into a power pole outside our hood and render us powerless for 5 hours while the utility company fixed his mess.
Unfortunately my Verizon Fios router and AEBS decided to go completely haywire once the power came back on and I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out why my my
TV (attached to the wireless N network) and my media server (attached to the Verizon wireless G network) weren't seeing each other. After a while I traced it to a wacky IP address that had somehow been assigned to the AEBS/N network - after tweaking it back to the same subnet everything is now hunkydory.
You might be wondering why I'm rambling about drunk pole smashers and octets but as my 6yr old daughter might say - we're getting to the juicy middle now.
Once everything could see each other again - I was able to get my iPhone back in on the act and started my airtunes speaker on the
TV via my Media Server. I then started to play around w/the iPhone remote app. I was stunned to see the playlists happily beaming up at me from the iPhone and, just for a laugh, decided to play a playlist that I'd set up unsuccessfully a long time ago as a hack to get internet radio playing on my
TV.
I'm now listening to Soma Groove Salad at what I must assume is 192kbps and my receiver is doing some kind of wonderful Dolby Surround sound trickery to phase all 5 speakers into the action.
2 hours ago I was absolutely cursing all things technological but now I'm in techno bliss... Thank you Apple, thank you Soma!
