Hi guys,

I decided to make a website today for some of the photos that I have taken over the summer.

I have gone for a very simple layout with the aim of focusing on the images rather than other things but I wanted to try and get the navigation menu right.

The only things I can change are the font, hover over colour, selected colour and actual colour or both the background and the text.

Can you tell me what you think from a design point of view and do you have any suggestions of colours that would be better than the current ones?

Thanks!

I like something like 0099ff for going over a black background. either that or a deep orange.

I take it you're not done with the contact page yet?

I think it's because I am constantly tinkering with things it's constantly updating but if you see a picture of me and three girls with a little bit of text then that's what I intended!

I have updated with your 0099ff blue and then used the complimentary orange as the hover over. Any thoughts?

Forgive me for being totally inexperienced in design but are you suggesting that I perhaps use one colour as the background and then one as the rollover colour?

I realise the colours are complimentary but not entirely sure which would work best with a black background etc...

Thanks for your quick replies and help!

I like the new blue and orange but I think everyone will have different opinions on this one.

Just to try it out I flipped the colours. I agree though, and just for my own amusement I flipped the colours to try it out for a bit!

Background:
Black is a fantastic background for most photography, it makes the images pop.

Font:
Check out google fonts, base fonts amaterize a minimalist site. ( i believe I just made a word up! )

Color:
White is 9 out of 10 for a black background. I'd probably try a softer white to keep the focus more on the images. I'd also use top navigation with your name as the header, but that's me and your setup works very well.

The design scheme is to keep you from wasting 10 hours determining a hover color. Pick a base, yours will be the blue or orange, input that hex # into the designer and let it do the work. Click on the different options to see 'matching' or color-expert pleasing matches and then pick one.

The color scheme is coming together, but I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your photography, very warm and great personality to your portfolio.

if you have a page pleas share some link so i can recommend you some good color combination for your site..

Not quite sure what you mean about the font, do you not think the current one works?

Good point on the softer white. I've now dulled it a bit so that it's not so obvious.

I did try the navigation at the top to start but couldn't get it to look nice. It also looked a bit funny fixed on the top (versus scrolled) and I didn't want people at the bottom of a set of photo's to get annoyed scrolling back to the top.

Do you think it's still an issue?

Thanks so much for your kind words! As I said to someone else, whilst the photo's aren't technically perfect, hopefully they convey a fun emotion!

Your font is quite good, perfect even; I was just giving you more options. I will tweak a font for hours on end.

Completely understand, yes I agree. I should have thought through it more. Your current nav is probably best/perfect for this site.

keep up the fantastic work
