I have a comcast email account on my phone but the way it syncs is weird. For instance, when I retrieve mail that I have already opened on the web it still comes as unread to my phone. My gmail account doesn't have that problem. I was wondering if it was anything I could do in settings to change that so I don't have to go through and check off all the emails on the phone even though I read them previously.

Per our forum policies, please don't bump your thread. Thanks for your understanding.

I tried to look this up the first time I saw your thread... usually this has to do with POP e-mail service. Some POP accounts work properly with respect to establishing whether e-mail is new on the server and on the client, but many do not. IMAP is more bulletproof this way because of how it works. So if Comcast supports IMAP access for your inbox, this is your best option. But I could not figure out conclusively whether Comcast offers you IMAP, so you're on your own with that part.

That's the way it is with comcast. Nothing you can do (at least not that I found). Comcast email is pop mail which in my opinion limits us a lot with what we can and can't do using the mail app...

One option people use then sometimes (but you may or may not like it) is to have another account (particularly a GMail one) import/manage the Comcast. If the Comcast mailbox is either very big and things don't need to be deleted there, or else if you can check and see if GMail is able to successfully delete messages when it downloads them, then you know the GMail inbox does function properly on the iPhone and in Mail.app....

Not great, I know. POP has been causing this problem with everyone who uses multiple e-mail clients for a long time....

Also, one other thing I remember is when I had Sprint my Mogul did the same thing but when I upgraded to a Touch Pro it worked the same way as my gmail account with the updating. This is why I thought this problem was fixed and it was merely a settings issue.
