1.
O flower of Scotland
When will we see
Your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

2.
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

3.
Those days are passed now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

come on andy murray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do Scotland proud!!!!!!!
what a match now beat the Fed!!!!!!!

well I've had a few but so proud of andy, what a match, after the football yesterday I'm proud to be a scot again!!!!
for those who don't know the words it's our "unoffical national anthem"

but in the papers he'll be Brittish but he is a Scot:D:D:D

ok i've had a few but what happened to brendanryder's post???????????

but in the papers he'll be Brittish but he is a Scot

Technically he's both ;)

But yeah, he'll only be referred to as British while winning, and Scottish while losing... and that's a little annoying. They should pick one and stick to it.

Glad someone's celebrating. Now get back out to the pub. I know loads in Glasgow that'll still be open :p

BBC Sports Personality of the Year if he wins tomorrow?

will be a close call this year between andy and chris hoy!! If he beats fed he will win it.

Fantastic result for our Andy. I don't mind him being referred to as British. Scottish first, British second. What bothers me is when people start referring to him as English.

It shocks me actually how many people in the UK don't like him, simply because he injects a bit of enthusiasm into a sport which is in desperate need of it.

Ah, Flower of Scotland, haven't sung that in a while.

But yes, go on Andy.

Think Chris Hoy will get the BBC Personality of the Year though - he's better at the interviews etc.

Er, right, because crashing out of the Olympics in round 1 and winning 1 other thing all year are clearly better than winning 3 gold medals. Not.

re: the British/Scottish thing in the press, it's talked about a lot but I've never seen an actual example. Links, anyone?

You conveniently left out that Murray won the Qatar Open, beat Federer in the opening at Dubai and got to the quarter-finals, got to the quarter finals at Queen's, the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, the semi-finals in Toronto, and won the Cincinnati Masters.

Now he is in his first grand slam final of a sport which has not had a grand slam British winner in 72 years. I think that is easily as big a deal as Chris Hoy's 3 gold medals.

Good Job.

It happened at Wimbledon several times. Once someone even called him English while he was winning

At this stage of the game it is Chris Hoy however depending on tonights result and the end result of the F1 season it could be quite open between Hoy, Murray, Hamilton and Adlington

OK, I'll give you that.

beat Federer in the opening at Dubai and got to the quarter-finals, got to the quarter finals at Queen's, the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, the semi-finals in Toronto

So that would be a load of non-wins, then. Your point is?

Come back to me when we have that winner, not just a potential winner or runner-up. :)

This is something which I really, really don't understand. Patriotism in sport.

Why would someone support a competitor based on their nationality alone? It's a totally alien concept to me. Why not support them based on their performance or other appeal rather than just what country they come from?

This is why I can't understand people going to those ridiculous "Team GB wooo!!" parades after the Olympics. The competitors win the medals, not you.
