It’s now 2017 and iOS is in its 11th iteration and this crap is still happening, come on! I think this is the most annoying part of iOS when watching a video

100% agreed, I've mentioned this over and over with each beta they release. They always end up closing it saying it was previously reported but I wish they would take it seriously, as it never gets fixed. And I don't need a massive VOLUME box taking up space on my screen when watching a video, it interferes like crazy!

It’s just insane to me that this thing is still around, especially from a company that prides itself in attention to detail. The fact that 3rd party developers have come up with a solution should be very telling to them.

I've only been on iOS since iOS 9 but every year I expect that they're going to fix this, something that seems very basic, and then they don't. Would have been nice to do with the X considering it's supposed to set the direction for then next 10 years. Maybe they had enough on their plate with the new screen size and gestures. Hopefully it comes in iOS 12.

Apple must like making it very clear what volume your device is set at. Remember: Apple knows best.

It bothers me, too, and if they keep closing the ticket saying it's already been reported, it doesn't seem like there's much hope.

Hope I'm wrong... would love the next WWDC to announce "We fixed the volume HUD". YYYYAAAAYYYY *ecstatic cheers!*

They're too arrogant to say "we fixed" things like that they just fix quietly and don't mention it. but either way as long as they change it I would be happy.... We shouldn't have to wait for iOS 12 though, this is a simple 11.x update... if 3rd party developers can change this with a simple app update so can Apple, I think they are just trolling us at this point lol.

Love instagrams implementation, small volume meter on the left of the notch. That’s perfect when in portrait

Many thing about the UI need to evolve
And these get rolled up into the Next IOS
Delay is not denial

I used to jailbreak to add additional functionality. Now it's used to fix/finish updating UI that Apple can't seem to do correctly themselves. Thanks for making us do more work Apple.

You're right, delay is incompetence. Having a high standard is expected for iOS, and yet it's starting to feel quite sloppy. Especially as it ages.

I play games that are in landscape only. HUD bothers me quite a lot because I won't be able to see whatever it is happening. The fact that HUD area can be touched intrigues me even more.

I think it is fine where it is at. My guess only a tiny fraction of people think this is an issue.

Incompetence, really ?
If your view of the future is so sharp start coding for the rest of us like Jobs 2.0

We're not talking about skill in coding, this is simple product management. They have checked off boxes with each software iteration the last few years. The boxes they have not checked are ensuring that the software is uniform and modern across all instances of the UI.

I must be in that category because even reading this thread I'm like, what are you on about? What is the problem?

It is gone with a jailbreak

Good riddance!

Dead center of the screen obstructing whatever I’m doing.

It hurts my feelings

Hmm is it fixed with the latest iOS update?

I don't see that with my X

I'm on 11.2.5 on the X, still have this volume hud issue... Strange thing is it doesn't always happen. I think it's app specific but I haven't paid enough attention to really tell. It does annoy the hell out of me when it happens though.

Perhaps you're right, but for those who watch video content on their phones, I cannot imagine this not being annoying.
