I am so disappointed with WhatsApp! Most probably one of the most used messaging applications on the App Store is one of the last to update it software to support Iphone 6!

Back to the main qn. When will the app be updated???
I've already switched to Telegram, and convinced most of my friends to do so as well.
https://telegram.org
Advantages in my book:
- Not owned by freaking Facebook
- Has clients for tablets and desktops as well, everything stays in sync
- Private encrypted communication mode
- Actually seems to have support and is being updated.
It's been super-reliable in my experience, and the API is open so anybody can make a client for it. There are even web-based clients.
In fact this seems to come closer to a cross-platform substitute for iMessage than anything else I've seen.
Of course, the main issue is convincing the people you talk to into switching, but it was easy in my case once I pointed out the advantages, and the fact that WhatsApp hasn't been well-supported since Facebook bought it. Big company acquisitions ruin EVERYTHING.
