I have a 2017 10.5 inch iPad Pro and a previous generation iPad Air and iPad mini for a few years ago. I gave them to my son and wife. I have the 2017 iPad Pro, which I used for a military training school which worked out ok, but still limited compared to my MacBook Air. Fast forward, I got back into PC gaming, got myself an asus GM501 gaming laptop and built myself a gaming PC with a Radeon 7 and another one with Nvidia 2080 Asus Strix. Gave my MacBook Air to my mom, kept my 2013 27” iMac I got refurbished from apple, since it still works really well as a Mac desktop. I went from years of owning an iPhone and last owned the iPhone X. Then gave that to my father in law (who loves me more for that), and got my wife and I a samsung S10 plus, which is awesome going back to an android phone after several years of being “stuck” in the apple ecosystem and paying for a lot of services that are already included in Google’s ecosystem.
ANYWAY, I haven’t been on these forums for a while and I must say, I regret for ignoring macrumors and I am happy to be back here. I got myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e recently with the keyboard case, it works well, screen is beautiful, file system is great, I upgraded the SD card to 512gb removable SD card, android is awesome, and speakers are amazing. Now, I’m typing on my iPad Pro 2017 and I must say, the ipad still seems to run a lot smoother than these android tablets. In my personal opinion, the android phones are beasts, but the tablets seem to need a lot of polished work to keep up with the ipad smoothness and such. I could use the google apps and Microsoft word apps on the galaxy tab s5e well, but I keep being drawn back to the iPad Pro for surfing the web, Netflix, YouTube, google play music, and some Microsoft document creation, and also got into some photo editing as a noob.
SO, I am looking into getting a another iPad Pro this time, the 12.9 inch version with cellular. I’ll stationed again at Osan air base in South Korea and I know I can get a Korean cell plan with unlimited data, 100 minutes and 100 text, for about $55 a month at the Osan exchange for my samsung phone, but can I get unlimited data plan for my iPad Pro tablet from same company such as Olleh or SK telecom at the exchange?
I know I will definitely be traveling a lot around South Korea with my family as tourists both on the subway train, bus, and with my personal vehicle, so the ipad would be useful to keep us busy and as a cool thing to carry around while traveling as it has GPS capability. At first I was like, is it worth it to get an iPad Pro with cellular? I’ve had ipad without cellular for years, other than my iPad mini which has cellular but its running real slow and its very small now so I only use it at home for a music player, smart home device. I know I can use my android phone for these traveling uses, but it’ll be nice to have a bigger ipad with us to carry around to watch movies and look at pictures and surf the web while we have down time. Yes I am coming back to apple, but only the iPad Pro and the 12.9 inch version and I am debating on the cellular vs no cellular version. I work in the medical field and have no need to do intense creative media content creation or YouTube video editing, but I will use this ipad to sometimes work on word document stuff, watch and download movies from Netflix/google movies, travel with me if I dont feel like busting out my gaming laptop, and watch movies with my wife if we are traveling and don’t have access to a large enough tv. I will be getting the keyboard cover since the keyboard is already useful on the iPad Pro and the ipad pencil to use as a stylus of course.
