I did a search but nothing came up about this, so if there is another thread please move and or lock this one.

Looks like Comixology is getting purchased by Amazon.

The only good thing I hope that comes from this is the ability to have my files backed up locally. I hope amazon allows me to do this. Sort of like how Image digital comics allows you.

I don't like the fact though that Amazon is now going to have a very big hand in the digital comic world and I am wondering how this is going to effect the selling of comics on iOS devices (iPad and iPhone).

I'm not big on comics but I still have 700 comics on file from a sale they had a few years ago. Got them all free. I wouldn't mind being able to save them locally either but I think the app does a fine job in letting me make a comic available offline here and there. I'm not a big consumer of Amazon streaming or entertainment but from what I hear comics constituted a large gap in their offering before the purchase.

I am not too worried about the purchase, I want Comixology to get better and better, because it's a good service, and it benefits everyone in the comic industry whether it's newspaper or issue formats. It has a great previewer, their panel view is very nice on mobile, but the apps in general need to get better considering a lot of us have HUGE libraries of comics. Give us collections and I'll be a happier customer.

I would like a desktop based app too, and I hope they get that under Amazon. The new HTML5 viewer is nice, but it lags on my MacBook Pro.

And maybe the storefront on the Kindle Paperwhite. But that might be asking for too much. :D

Well it looks like we have the first update. No more in-app purchases for iOS devices.

I was not a real heavy user of comixology mainly because I couldn't back up my purchases.

Going to wait and see how this pans out, or if this is going to be the norm. I did notice they are no longer using the google play store for purchases also. But from what it sounds like you can still do in-app purchases on an Android device.
